Lorem Ipsum Generator
Generate placeholder paragraphs, sized to the count you set.
Placeholder text lets you see how a layout behaves before the real copy is written. This generator produces lorem ipsum — the traditional scrambled pseudo-Latin used to fill mock-ups — with the exact number of paragraphs and sentences you ask for. Move either slider or tick an option and the output rebuilds instantly; press Refresh Text to re-roll a fresh set of words. Everything is generated in your browser, so nothing is sent anywhere.
Set the amount with two sliders
The Paragraph Count slider ranges from 1 to 25, and Sentences per Paragraph from 1 to 10, so you can produce anything from a single line to a long article-sized block. Each sentence is assembled from a fixed pool of classic lorem words and runs a random 8 to 15 words long, with a capital letter at the start and a full stop at the end. Because the length of every sentence is randomised, two paragraphs with the same sentence count still look naturally uneven — closer to real prose than a rigid grid.
Two options that change the output
Start with "Lorem ipsum…" (on by default) forces the very first words to be the familiar Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. opener, which is what most people expect placeholder text to look like. Include <p> tags wraps every paragraph in <p>…</p> so you can paste the result straight into HTML; leave it off to get plain paragraphs separated by blank lines. The result box is read-only — use Copy Result to grab the whole block.
It is filler, not real language
Lorem ipsum is deliberately meaningless. It descends from a scrambled passage of Latin and does not translate to anything, which is precisely why designers use it: the eye judges spacing, line length and rhythm instead of getting drawn into reading the words. Use it to test a template, then swap in real copy before publishing — placeholder text left in a live page is a common and embarrassing slip.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is each sentence?
Every sentence is a random 8 to 15 words drawn from the standard lorem word list. You control how many sentences go in each paragraph (1–10) and how many paragraphs to generate (1–25).
Can I get HTML-ready output?
Yes. Tick "Include <p> tags" and each paragraph is wrapped in <p>…</p>. With it off, you get plain paragraphs separated by blank lines instead.
Does the text change every time?
Yes. Moving a slider, toggling an option, or pressing Refresh Text re-rolls new random words. The only fixed part is the "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…" opener when that option is enabled.
Is the text actual Latin I can translate?
No. It is the traditional scrambled lorem ipsum filler and has no real meaning. Its whole purpose is to stand in for copy so you can judge a layout, not to be read.
