Free Signature Generator

Type your name in a handwriting style or draw it yourself, then download a transparent signature image.

Pick a style

Exports a transparent, high-resolution image — everything is generated in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

This signature generator turns your name into a clean image right in the browser. Type it once and preview it across a range of handwriting and calligraphy styles, or switch to draw mode and sign freehand with your mouse, trackpad, or a finger on a touchscreen. When it looks the way you want, download it as a transparent PNG you can drop straight onto a contract, a PDF, an email, or a letterhead. Nothing you type or draw is uploaded — the whole thing runs on your device.

Type it or draw it — two ways to sign

The tool works two ways. In type mode you enter your name once and see it rendered across several script fonts — from tight, businesslike cursive to loose, flowing calligraphy — then adjust the ink color and size until it reads like yours. In draw mode you sign directly on the canvas; a trackpad works, but a touchscreen or stylus gives the most natural line. Type mode is fast and perfectly consistent, which suits a signature you will reuse on many documents. Draw mode captures the individuality of your own hand, which is what most people want on a signed letter, a card, or a piece of artwork. You can move between the two modes at any time.

Why the background is transparent

A signature almost always sits on top of something else — a signature line in a PDF, a sign-off at the bottom of an email, a name on a printed certificate. If the image carried a white rectangle behind it, that block would hide whatever it landed on. This tool exports with a transparent background instead, so only the ink shows and the page underneath stays visible. The PNG is also drawn at several times its on-screen size, so it stays sharp when you shrink it onto a document or send it to a printer. Freehand signatures can additionally be saved as SVG, a vector format that stays crisp at any scale.

It stays on your device

Because every stroke is rendered on a canvas in your browser, your name and signature never travel to a server: no upload, no account, and nothing kept once you close the tab. Images like these are widely used for e-signing, and electronic signatures are legally recognized for many purposes (for example under the US ESIGN Act and UETA), but the exact rules depend on the document and the country. For anything high-stakes — a mortgage, a legal filing, an employment contract — check the specific requirements, or use a dedicated e-signature service that records consent and keeps an audit trail. This is general information, not legal advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my signature uploaded anywhere?

No. Whether you type or draw, the signature is rendered on a canvas inside your browser and the download is generated locally. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored after you leave the page.

Does the downloaded image have a transparent background?

Yes. The PNG exports with a transparent background, so only the ink shows. You can place it over a PDF, a document, or an email signature without a white box covering the content underneath.

Can I draw with my finger on a phone?

Yes. Draw mode supports touch and stylus input as well as a mouse or trackpad. A touchscreen usually produces the most natural-looking line, and you can undo the last stroke or clear the canvas and start over.

Can I use this to sign a PDF or a contract?

You can drop the transparent PNG onto a PDF or document as your signature. Electronic signatures are recognized for many uses (ESIGN and UETA in the US), but requirements vary by document and country, so check the rules for important paperwork or use a dedicated e-sign service. This is general information, not legal advice.

Which file format should I download?

Choose PNG for pasting into documents, emails, and most software — it keeps the transparent background. For a signature you drew, you can also export SVG, a vector file that scales to any size without going blurry.

Why do the typed styles take a moment to appear?

The handwriting fonts load once when you open the tool. If a style briefly shows in a plain font, give it a second to finish loading and it will re-render in the correct script.
