The units and how they convert
All the built-in sizes are stored in millimetres, the base unit for paper, and the converter derives the rest from there:
Inches = mm ÷ 25.4 • Points = inches × 72 • Pixels = inches × DPI
Centimetres are simply millimetres divided by ten. Points are the typographic unit used in design software, fixed at 72 per inch. Pixels are the one that depends on context: a page has no inherent pixel size until you choose a resolution, so the DPI setting matters. At 300 DPI — the usual standard for print — an A4 page is 2,480 by 3,508 pixels; at 72 DPI for screen it's far smaller. That's why the DPI selector sits right next to the results.
Which standard is which
The ISO A series (A4, A3, A0 and so on) is the international standard used across most of the world, built so that each size is half the one above it. North American sizes — Letter, Legal, Tabloid — are the norm in the United States and Canada, and the ANSI and architectural (ARCH) series extend those into larger technical drawing sheets. The JIS B series is Japan's variant, dimensioned slightly differently from ISO B. Having them side by side makes it easy to find the closest equivalent when a document specified in one system has to print or display in another — a common snag when A4 artwork meets a Letter-size printer.

What pixel size is A4 at 300 DPI?
About 2,480 by 3,508 pixels. Because A4 is 210 by 297 mm — 8.27 by 11.69 inches — multiplying by 300 dots per inch gives those pixel dimensions, which is the standard resolution for print-quality artwork.
Why do pixel dimensions depend on DPI?
A physical page has a fixed size in millimetres and inches but no fixed pixel count until you set a resolution. DPI (dots per inch) tells the tool how many pixels fill each inch, so higher DPI yields more pixels for the same page.
What is the difference between A4 and Letter?
A4 (210 × 297 mm) is the international ISO standard; US Letter (216 × 279 mm) is a little wider and shorter. They are close but not interchangeable, which is why documents sometimes reflow or get cropped when moved between them.
Can I convert a custom size?
